White screen of death:
Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in /home1/tlarsen/public_html/efs/wp-content/themes/business-center/inc/custom-header.php on line 91
How do I get back in?
March 31, 2017 at 12:44 am #37438wensolutionsKeymasterHello @tlarsenphd,
As far as we have checked the issue locally with the latest version of the theme and WordPress in PHP 5.5+ , we are unable to find such issue.
Also please mention your PHP version , WordPress version and Hosting server your site is currently hosted on so that we could look further into the issue .
Hope this helps.
Best Regards!!

April 7, 2017 at 12:18 am #38049wensolutionsKeymasterHello @karlaghn,
As we have mentioned earlier the theme does not have issues while we have tested it on our side.
For the fix of the issue, if you are unable to access your WordPress Dashboard, you will need to access the site’s FTP and then rename your individual plugins / themes folder in the wp-contents directory.
It will deactivate the plugins / themes that might be causing the issue.
You can also check the reference link below to debug further with the issue :

Hope this Helps,
Best Regards !!

My PHP System Default Version is 5.4
HostgatorHope you can help me. Otherwise I must rebuild the entire site from scratch. And I will NOT be using Business Center!
April 7, 2017 at 2:47 am #38058wensolutionsKeymasterHello @tlarsenphd,
The issue you have mentioned is due to the php version you are using i.e version 5.4.
So please upgrade your PHP version to latest.
Also in order to avoid such issue you should always use the latest versions as mentioned by the wordpress, org as well . Refer to below link for more info:
https://wordpress.org/about/requirements/
Hope this helps.
Best Regards!!
April 10, 2017 at 3:04 pm #38308tlarsenphdParticipantI upgraded to 5.5 (the upgrade options I have are 5.5, 5.6, and 7.0) and it broke ALL of my sites so I reverted to the system default (5.4).
Does your recommendation to upgrade to the latest mean 5.5 or 5.6?
With my unfortunate results using your theme and failed attempts to fix using your recommendations, it looks like I will not be able to use your theme.
It also looks like I will have to completely rebuild the site from scratch because I cannot resolve the error.
Users of the Business Center theme: Be warned!
April 11, 2017 at 1:03 am #38339wensolutionsKeymasterHello @tlarsenphd,
The theme Business Center pro is recently developed theme and it was tested with the recent PHP version which is in fact mentioned by the wordpress.org as well.
So we strongly recommend you to upgrade your PHP version to the latest one .
Hope this helps.
Best Regards!!
April 11, 2017 at 10:13 am #38365tlarsenphdParticipantAs I explained, when I upgraded to 5.5, ALL of my other sites broke. That is, all of my other WordPress sites on my host returned a 500 error page.
The original broken site did not resolve.
I’m not willing to lose all my sites, so I will not upgrade to 5.5 at this time.
The fix for me is: do not use the Business Center theme.
